This story took me right back to childhood and heady, worry free days after school watching the Jetsons!
Whether flying cars would bring quite such the same amount of free time that the Jetsons always seemed to have remains to be seen, but if Uber and others get their way, it might just be that drones are not the only thing flying above our cities in the years to come.
There are clearly hurdles in the way, many technical (and I'm not an engineer). Some are more practical, such as the risk of accidents and injury to those on the ground (similar debates have been had around drones). Uber has clearly acknowledged this and suggests that new forms of air traffic control systems will be required to avoid these situations.
Lots to do then. I'll watch developments with interest!
The wrinkle is that the way the company plans to achieve that breakthrough is with a technology that has been one of the modern world's great—and most elusive—dreams: the flying car.
