Technology making the news this morning following the UK Government's announcement that technology (new to these shores) will be trialled in the haulage industry.

Already seen in other countries, this technology in theory allows lorries to travel closely together more safely due to a level of automation/co control between them.  Some initial comments have suggested that the technology may struggle in the UK due to the design of our motorways (regular entrances and exits - where joining and leaving could be impacted by these platoons) and their capacity.  Other's have questioned the need for it, but all will come out in the wash as the trial takes place.

There remains a relatively high level of human involvement (for now) so this is a long way from self driving in its purest sense, but it is an interesting first step for the industry.
