Is Autumn 2017 the start of the balance shift from private landlord buy to let to investor landlord build to rent?

New lending criteria for landlords of multiple buy to let properties represents the last of 3 big changes predicted to impact on the buy to let market (the other two being the withdrawal of tax relief on mortgage interest and increased SDLT rates for multiple properties).  Buy to let transactional activity has already declined on the back of the SDLT changes with private rents increasing in a number of rental hotspots.

On the other side, new build to rent activity is gathering pace with now over 83,000 units completed or under development.
