Current Mayor Rees is facing inevitable criticism for investing "up to 150K" in the Global Parliament of Mayors at a time when the Council is having to find significant budget cuts. It is right that the decision is subject to appropriate scrutiny. But we need to be bold. Ex-mayor George Ferguson neatly makes the case for building our reputation and sharing experiences. Cities and city regions are our way forward. We should get behind the Mayor and this initiative to build Bristol's global brand , together with the economic and social benefits that can unlock.
