It feels like every day there are new stories of retail decline and the battle between the High Street and online... clearly the High Street is not winning and the BBC article below makes for more sobering reading as the Halloween spookiness is behind us and it's all jingle and sparkle for the next two months...

There are some great examples in this country of vibrant town centres and retailers who are really thinking about how to entice people to their stores. We really need some fresh thinking about how to make our town centres interesting places to be, not just for soulless shops but with good quality residential and leisure space.

Where is the fresh thinking going to come from? And where is the finance coming from to back it... Has this week's budget been a good start or too little too late?
