Since the introduction of the new Electronic Communications Code in 2017 we have been advising an increasing number of landowners in relation to telecoms and the effect of the new code.
Today it has been announced that the government has approved the supply of equipment by Chinese telecoms firm Huawei to the UK's new 5G data network despite warnings of a security risk.
A reportedly contentious decision but it is thought banning Huawei entirely from the network could risk slowing down the development of 5G.
As the new code continues to be tested by the Tribunal it is interesting to see how it develops and the effect it is having on landowners with masts on their property.
5G is the next (fifth) generation of mobile internet connectivity, promising much faster data download and upload speeds, wider coverage and more stable connections.
