About Me

I help clients protect and exploit intellectual property.

I have a particular focus on the media, retail / leisure and energy sectors. This is predominantly through licensing activities, but I also assist with other forms of exploitation such as collaborations.

I frequently advise on intellectual property ownership issues (including ownership transfers), and the sourcing or provision of intellectual property related services such as design services or content creation.

In media, my work focuses on the creation and exploitation of content for TV, film and online resources, with a particular interest in children's media. I have worked on projects relating to a number of well-known children's television series, and assisted clients to conclude agreements with global broadcasters and publishers. I help clients with contracts relating to all stages of content production and exploitation, including:

  • option agreements / literary content licences
  • video and other content development / production services agreements
  • content licensing agreements
  • licensing and merchandising agreements

In retail, I act for both traditional and online retailers and leisure businesses (with particular experience in the food & drink field) as well as those who supply goods or services to them.  I help clients to put in place arrangements such as:

  • brand licences
  • design services arrangements / design licences
  • contracts to either source or supply relevant technologies
  • website / app design and development arrangements.

I also act for clients in the energy sector, advising on the sharing and licensing of energy-related technology.  I have advised on the intellectual property aspects of a number of complex business sale or purchase transactions within the energy field, and I also advised a major public body on the restructuring of a series of complex intellectual property licensing arrangements.
