The importance of food strategy ahead of Brexit

By Edward Venmore

The NFU continues to stress the need for a comprehensive food strategy which sets out a collaborative vision of the future of food in Britain.

NFU President, Minette Batters has made the point that we need a proactive plan which links farmers and the wider foot manufacturing industry and builds a brand based on the integrity and standards of British food.

There are many challenges for farmers in the months ahead, the food industry being a particularly challenging area and the NFU's vision is to use these challenges to create a sustainable agricultural sector.

“The Agriculture Bill and a new policy offer a once-in-a-generation chance to influence our course for the future and we must seize it by setting out a clear vision of where we want to be post-Brexit.
